Life Force Arts Center is located at 1609 W. Belmont, Chicago IL 60657. We’re a storefront on Belmont Avenue, on the southwest corner of the intersection of Belmont, Lincoln and Ashland Avenues. We are just west of Central Savings bank, between J & M Jacobs Tax Service and Star Events.
Parking
FREE PARKING in Central Savings parking lot
FREE PARKING is available in Central Savings bank parking lot.
The Central Savings parking lot is located on Ashland Avenue just south of Belmont, in the rear of Central Savings. You do not need a permit or card for your car in order to park in this lot while you are at LFAC events. If there is a security guard in the parking lot, please tell them you are attending an event at Life Force Arts Center, which is a tenant of the bank.
Note: the parking lot security guard only checks to make sure customers of Xfinity do not use the Central Savings parking lot. So do not visit the Xfinity store while you are parked in Central Savings parking lot.
Other parking options
FREE STREET PARKING is available near the Center on the side streets south of Barry or west of Ashland. You will have to search a bit for such a space, and walk 2 – 3 blocks to get to LFAC. Good streets to find FREE PARKING are:
- Barry (east and west of Ashland)
- Nelson (west of Ashland)
- Wellington (east of Ashland)
- Paulina (south of Barry)
- Oakdale – this is several blocks south of LFAC, but there is almost always parking.
There is a City of Chicago metered parking lot on Barry Street, one block south of the Center. Meters in this lot are operational 24 hours per day.
There are also meters on the streets near the Center. These meters are operational from 8 AM – 10 PM Monday through Saturday. We do not recommend parking at these meters, since they are only two hour parking. The meter readers patrol vigilantly and will issue a $50 parking ticket if you overstay even a few minutes. For example, if the event you are attending is 2 hours, you will have to run out and feed the meter before the end of the event, or you will most likely get a $50 ticket.
Directions From 90-94
Traveling south – get off at the Kimball exit. Stay in the left hand lane as you get off the expressway; go 1/4 block on Kimball to Belmont. Turn left (east) onto Belmont. We are located at 1609 W. Belmont. To get to our FREE parking (Central Savings parking lot): Traveling east on Belmont, turn right (south) on to Ashland Avenue. The parking lot is 1/2 block south of Belmont on Ashland.
Traveling north – get off at the North Avenue exit. Go west on North Avenue to Ashland. Turn right (north) on Ashland to Belmont. Turn left onto Belmont – we are at 1609 W Belmont, just west of Ashland. To get to our FREE parking (Central Savings parking lot) the best way is to circle the block so you can make a right hand turn into the parking lot. Traveling north on Ashland, turn left (west) on Barry two blocks to Paulina. Turn right (north) onto Paulina. Go one block, then turn right (east) onto Belmont. Go one block to Ashland, turn right (south) onto Ashland. The Central Savings parking lot is 1/2 block south of Belmont on Ashland.
Directions From Lake Shore Drive
Get off at the Belmont exit. (Note: Belmont near Lake Shore Drive is very crowded. You may want to get off Lake Shore Drive at the Irving Park or Fullerton instead of Belmont.) Go west on Belmont to our location, 1609 W Belmont. To get to our FREE parking (Central Savings parking lot) the best way is to circle the block so you can make a right hand turn into the parking lot. Go west on Belmont to Greenview Street. Turn left (south) onto Greenview to Barry. Turn right (west) on Barry two blocks to Paulina. Turn right (north) onto Paulina. Go one block, then turn right (east) onto Belmont. Go one block to Ashland, turn right (south) onto Ashland. The Central Savings parking lot is 1/2 block south of Belmont on Ashland.
Directions By Elevated Train
The nearest elevated train station to LFAC is the Paulina stop on the Brown Line. From this station, walk 3 blocks south on Lincoln Avenue to the intersection of Lincoln, Belmont and Ashland. We are near the intersection, at 1609 W Belmont.
You can also get off the train at the Belmont Station on the Red, Brown or Purple Lines. From this station, walk or take a #77 Belmont bus west on Belmont about one mile to 1609 W Belmont, near the corner of Belmont, Lincoln and Ashland.
The Belmont station on the Blue Line is several miles west of us, near Kimball. This is a good option if you are coming from the northwest side of Chicago or the northwest suburbs and it is convenient for you to take the Blue Line.
